About KWK Books

KWK Books is a bookkeeping and advisory firm that keeps the books clean and the decisions clear for home-service business owners in Austin and Central Texas.

We handle monthly bookkeeping, catch-up clean-up, payroll, and proactive financial advisory so contractors and trade owners can run crews, jobs, and cash without guessing. You get a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor who reads a P&L like an operator, not a data-entry service that sends a report and disappears.

What KWK Books does

Monthly Bookkeeping

You get consistent, accurate books every month so you always know where cash stands and your CPA is not surprised at tax time. We categorize and reconcile transactions, maintain QuickBooks Online, and deliver a P&L, balance sheet, and one-page monthly financial summary. The goal is CPA-ready books year-round, not a scramble in April.

Catch-Up and Clean-Up

If you are months or years behind, we dig in, sort the mess, and get you current before monthly service starts. That means historical clean-up, reconciliations from day one, and reclassifying miscoded entries into financials you can trust. Most owners start here when the books stopped matching the work.

Payroll Services

As a Gusto Pro Partner, we run payroll processing, tax filing, and compliance so your team gets paid on time and you stay on the right side of filings. We handle onboarding and direct deposit, and we keep payroll tied to your QuickBooks Online books. Pricing for payroll is quoted separately. Contact us for a scope.

CFO Advisory

Monthly clients already get a one-page summary that explains what the numbers mean. Advisory clients also get cash flow and runway visibility, budget vs. actuals, job profitability by service line, and a monthly check-in to walk through it. Think of it as proactive financial guidance for owners who want more than a clean ledger.

What makes KWK Books different

Home-service and trades are the specialty. The work is built for owners who run crews, jobs, and seasonal cash, and the same operator-minded approach fits other small businesses that want clean books and clear decisions.

  1. Trade-first specialty. Deep focus on landscaping, lawn care, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, general contractors, cleaning, restoration, gutters, and similar trades. Job costing, seasonal cash, equipment, and crews are the default.
  2. Books closed by the 15th. Monthly packages land on a fixed rhythm so you see numbers before you need them, not after a scramble.
  3. Proposals in 48 hours. After the discovery call, you get a clear Ignition proposal with scope, price, and terms to sign online.
  4. Month-to-month, with 30 days notice. No long-term lock-in. We earn the work every month. Cancel anytime with 30 days notice.
  5. Owner-operated ProAdvisor. You work with Kipp Koeppel, a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor with FP&A and finance background, including retirement plan work at Vanguard and Wells Fargo (VP-level), plus real home-service operator experience. Secure client portal via Financial Cents. Proposals and signing via Ignition only.

Who uses KWK Books

Most clients are home-service and trade owners in Austin and Central Texas who want books that match how the work actually runs:

That is the specialty. Other small businesses that want the same operator-minded books and advisory are welcome too.

Frequently asked questions

How much does bookkeeping cost?

We quote a fixed monthly rate after a 30-minute call. The number depends on transaction volume, number of accounts, and whether you need catch-up work. No surprises after that. Book a free call and we will scope it together.

Do I need QuickBooks Online already?

Not required, but we work in QuickBooks Online. If you do not have it, we can set it up during onboarding. If you are already on QBO, even a messy file, we connect and get to work. We are a certified ProAdvisor firm.

My books are a disaster. Can you still help?

Yes. Catch-up and clean-up is one of the most common starts. Whether you are a few months behind or a few years behind, we assess, give a clear scope and price, get you current, then move to monthly service.

How long does it take to get started?

After the discovery call, a proposal lands within 48 hours. Once you sign digitally, we connect to QBO and start onboarding. Most clients see the first monthly package within about 30 days of signing.

Are there long-term contracts?

No. Engagements are month-to-month. Cancel anytime with 30 days notice.

Do you do taxes?

We do not prepare tax returns. That is your CPA's job. We keep books clean, reconciled, and CPA-ready so filing is faster and cleaner. We work with your CPA or can refer one if needed.

What industries do you specialize in?

Home-service and trades are the specialty: landscaping, lawn care, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, general contractors, gutters, cleaning, construction, and similar businesses. Job costing, seasonal cash flow, equipment, and subcontractors are core to how we work. Other small businesses that want the same approach are welcome too.

What does the advisory service include?

Every monthly client gets a one-page financial summary with the books. CFO Advisory clients also get cash flow analysis, budget vs. actuals, job profitability by service line, and a monthly advisory call.
